A Major Player On The Las Vegas Strip

Nothing is more indicative of the changing face of  Las Vegas than Bally's Las Vegas resort.
Opened in 1973 as the 2,100-room MGM Grand, it was, at the time, the world's largest hotel.  Cary Grant, Fred McMurray and Raquel Welch were among the stars on hand for the gala opening.
   A 732-room tower opened in July 1981.
Bally's Manufacturing Corporation purchased the resort in 1996.  In 1999, Hilton spun off its gaming properties, creating Park Place Entertainment Corporation, with major properties in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi.

Through the changes, Bally's has maintained its position as one of Las Vegas' pre-eminent resorts, with 70,000 square feet of casino space, six outstanding restaurants and five other eateries, 22 shops in a European setting and the famous Jubilee show, a Las Vegas entertainment fixture since 1981.
With 2,814 rooms, Bally's is the 15th-largest hotel in America.
