Bob Macy was a writer with the Associated Press for 30 years, and was AP's Las Vegas Correspondent from 1981-2000, covering the city during its most dramatic growth years. He recently retired to pursue publishing ventures and write nationally-syndicated features about the city. Melinda Macy runs the couple's publishing company, with works including a Las Vegas book now in its 10th edition. They have just published a book on Las Vegas stars they have covered over the past 20 years. The two have written about more than 300 celebrities the past quarter-century -- show business icons ranging from Siegfried & Roy, Paul Anka, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Cher to legends such as Frank Sinatra, George Burns, Liberace and Sammy Davis Jr. On these pages, the Macys share 20 years of their insights and interviews with the stars who have made Las Vegas the Entertainment Capital of the World, and recount the changes that have made the city the most exciting on the globe. |
